We Are Newcastle has been funded from the Government’s Welcome Back Fund via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project is being delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI) on behalf of Newcastle City Council.

This project has received funding from the Government’s Welcome Back Fund via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is the Managing Authority for ERDF. Established by the European Union ERDF funds help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.
About We Are Newcastle
WeAreNewcastle is being delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative, on behalf of Newcastle City Council, following funding from the Government’s Welcome Back fund via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The aim of the campaign is to help local areas stimulate their economic development by delivering projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regeneration. WeAreNewcastle is focused on eight neighbourhoods and high streets across the city; Elswick (West Road and Adelaide Tce); Byker; Heaton (Heaton Road and Chillingham Road; Ouseburn; Gosforth and the Quayside. The local pride campaign followed extensive research in each area to establish current shopping trends, barriers preventing people visiting and what was needed in each area to encourage new visitors. WeAreNewcastle will promote each area’s individual identity from the foodie heaven of Heaton to the arty and eclectic Ouseburn.
The GeordieStreet app
The GeordieStreet App has also been launched which will allow businesses in the designated areas to promote themselves and reach new customers, as well as being able to offer deals and discounts for residents to take advantage of. The app is FREE to download and has all the information you need to plan a trip to a new restaurant or part of the city you haven’t been to before.
